As we prepare for WordCamp Kampala which starts on Saturday this week, we have updated our joint website and applied a new WordPress theme.

Our website, ictteachersug.net, is powered by WordPress, the world’s No. 1 Content Management System (CMS) that powers over 80 million sites on the web (over 34% of the world’s websites).
The website is a multi-user website, all users are allowed to login and jointly publish content on the website blog. Therefore all ITAU members need to know how to use WordPress for creating and publishing content.
The general design of our website has been improved in addition to a number of features which include:
✅A mobile responsive navigation structure with links to key sections on the website.
✅A slideshow on the home page with featured information.
✅A blog section where articles published are displayed.
✅A page dedicated to quick resource sharing only visible to logged in members
✅An ecommerce shop where any members can add products or product information for items available for sale, eg. premium e-resources.
✅An events management system where all events for ICT teachers are listed.
✅Social media pages and groups (Facebook, Twitter, Telegram) have been created and integrated such that they website automatically posts to social media whenever any member adds something new to the website.
✅ A page with educational YouTube Videos made by members and uploaded to the ITAU YouTube channel and automatically embedded on the site.
✅ A section for ITAU Jobs where job related posts and opportunities are posted
✅A search facility for quickly locating any needed content on the website.
Why ITAU Members are encouraged to attend the WordCamps
We usually encourage our members to attend WordCamps in order to learn more on creating modern, efficient websites so as to support their schools in development and management of school websites. Web Development also has a great potential for earning side income. Everyone is encouraged to carry a laptop for the practical sessions.
ICT Teachers were among the many attendees of Wordcamp Kampala 2018 and WordCamp Entebbe 2019 in May 2019. In the videos below some participants share their testimonies:
